Julien Martre and PO Gosselin met when they were 15 years old. They were part of the same hockey team “Les Gouverneurs de Sainte-Foy.

 

After the success of Flangers' debut album (see Black Toy press release document), the members focused on other musical projects. Julien and Fred are part of the Isadora group (Universal Publishing). They will open for Fefe Dobson at the legendary Phoenix in Toronto as well as several Canadian tours.

 

PO is focusing on several electronic music projects that he will produce himself at his studio.

 

Frederic Asselin plays with several artists including Noir Silence, Tuppert, Isadora, Martin Deschamps, Laurence Casteras.

 

With Martin Deschamps, Fred shared the stage with several guest artists such as Éric Lapointe, Pagliaro, Offenbach, Nanette Workman, Dany Bédar, Marco Calliari, William Deslauriers and the Too Many Cooks.

 

Julien joined The New Cities Group in 2007 as a composer and bassist. The group signed with the SONY label in 2008 and toured across Canada, USA, England and France where they shared the stage with Katy Perry, Nine Inch Nails, Simple Plan, Avril Lavigne. They also tour the Vans Warped Tour as well as the Bamboozle Festival in New Jersey with Foo Fighters headlining.

 

Julien won the SOCAN award in 2010 for co-writing the song Dead End Countdown, which became the most played English Canadian song on radio across the country.

 

The song Lost in City Lights, also co-written by Julien, is found in an important scene on the show Gossip Girl in the United States. The single Hypertronic Superstar, written by Julien, can be found in the movie Degrassi as well as the show So You Think You Can Dance.

 

Julien will be in a relationship with pop star Carly Rae Jepsen (who sings the hit “Call Me Maybe” which became the #1 song in the world in 2012. The 2 artists will compose a song together with Josh Ramsay (Marianas Trench) at his studio in Vancouver.

During the confinement Fred and Julien and PO talk about the possibility of releasing a 2nd album for Flangers. After 10 songs of composition, the album is produced by Julien at his studio in Los Angeles, all the recording was done by internet at a distance of 5000 kilometers between Quebec and Los Angeles. Julien has been a permanent resident of Los Angeles for 8 years.
